CHILD LIVES MATTER
Nowadays, there are around 250 million children working all over the world. Most of them are between 4 and 14 years old and more than half of them work in hazardous conditions.
Do you feel concerned? Well, we believe you should.
Whether you realise it or not, every day you could be buying products that have been manufactured using child labour. Your clothes, your car, your makeup, your smartphone, even your football….
These children should be going to school to learn to read and write and simply enjoy their childhood. It is mainly poverty that drives families to send their children to work. What’s more, the children are often badly treated. They can be beaten, starved or not paid.
Very often, the governments of the countries concerned turn a blind eye to these terrible practices. Many brands attempt to ignore the problem by claiming it is not them but their suppliers. In recent years, awareness of this problem has increased but the numbers are still too high.
We should play our part too by making smarter consumer choices and by helping the charities involved in supporting childrens’ rights.
